Now Ottawa-Gatineau based businesses can be Greener and Cleaner while employing new immigrants in equitable working conditions!

Maintenance 1a+, a unique workers cooperative that specializes in socially responsible commercial cleaning and maintenance receives “Ontario Trillium Foundation” grant to hire a Business Development Manager.

Want to give your company the opportunity to become more environmentally friendly, improve the lives of new immigrants, and get excellent cleaning services? So does Lainie Towell, the new Business Development Manager for Maintenance 1a+ Workers Coop.
Ms. Towell is excited by the potential growth of the young co-op made up of five immigrant workers, who collectively possess years of expertise in the cleaning industry. Towell brings a diverse skill-set to the co-op including: experience in marketing, development, public relations and event planning for not-for-profits and small businesses.
“I am very motivated to be part of such a determined organization that puts people and the planet first, and profit second. Maintenance 1a+ is a win-win solution for all stakeholders including the businesses we serve, co-op members, and our local community,” says Towell.
The co-op’s goal is to generate ongoing employment for its members. It also does its part to minimize impact on the environment by using only certified green cleaning products. By creating a sustainable work environment that values outstanding service, great client relations, worker equality, and ecological awareness - and with the help of their new business development manager – Maintenance 1a+ is well on its way to helping make our community a greener and cleaner place to do business.
